Who’s In Control? - Fraud Seminar

Who’s In Control? The Importance of Segregating Duties to Prevent Fraud
Chamber to Host Discussion at Sarkeys Foundation

During the past year, more than $3 million in fraud has been uncovered in publicly-funded entities in Oklahoma. In every instance, the public entity victimized was vulnerable because it lacked effective internal controls and appropriate segregation of duties. As budgets tighten and more people join the unemployment roll, economic and other pressures usually lead to more instances of employee embezzlement and theft.

Oklahoma State Auditor Steve Burrage has designed a one-hour presentation to inform and educate those in a position of governance or management – whether on a public or not-for-profit board, a commission, an agency head or a business leader – about the fiduciary responsibility that comes with the position. Who’s In Control? The Importance of Segregating Duties to Prevent Fraud examines the risks too many employers take and the steps necessary to ensure adequate safeguards to prevent employee theft.

Join the Chamber on Friday, February 5, 11:30 a.m. at Sarkeys Foundaion, 530 E. Main St. Reservations are required. Contact Angie Drury, by Wednesday, February 3. Lunch will be $5 at the door. Please bring cash or check.
