The Hobe Sound Chamber of Commerce kicks off this year’s Appraisal Fest 2009 with a cocktail reception at the Garden of Goods on Friday March 27th at 7pm. Saturday March 28th from 9-3 will be appraisals by “The Appraisal Guys”, Tim Luke and Greg Strahm.
Tickets to the Friday cocktail reception are $35.00 per person. For those wishing to attend the cocktail reception and the appraisal event, dual admission tickets will be available for $75.00 per person. It includes 1 admission to the reception and the appraisal of up to 3 items on Saturday. This event will directly benefit the new Hobe Sound Chamber of Commerce Building Fund.
On Saturday the 28th 9-3 Strahm & Luke, known as “The Appraisal Guys...the Fric & Frac of Knick & Knack”, will be appraising your family heirlooms, collectibles, paintings, porcelains and other decorative arts. No guns, knives or fine jewelry. The cost for the appraisals is $20.00 per item or 3 items for $50.00. 100% of the proceeds of the event will
benefit the
Chamber’s Building Fund. Also on hand will be a resource center for those wishing to sell their items on eBay; packing and shipping your items; or wishing to have art work cleaned, framed or restored.
Known as “The Appraisal Guys”, Greg Strahm and Tim Luke are the owners of Hobe Sound based TreasureQuest Appraisal Group (www.tqag.com) which offers a wide variety of services pertaining to the appraisal and/or liquidation of personal property and are both accredited members of The International Society of Appraisers (ISA). Nationally they can be heard live online every Tuesday morning at 7:35 A.M. Their weekly radio show is called “Appraise This!” and can be heard on Connecticut Public Radio at www.robinhoodradio.com .
Tim Luke is featured on HGTV’s “Cash In the Attic”, a popular weekly reality show that travels across the nation to help families identify valuable items that may be later sold at auction. Prior to his career in television, Luke was the Director of the Collectibles Department
atChristie’s Auction House in New York. He is a published author and has appeared on “The Today Show” and is a regular guest on “The View.” One of Luke’s career highlights was appraising some of Barbara Walter’s most prized possessions. Luke has also shared his expertise on “Antiques Roadshow.” Locally you can catch Tim Luke on NBC affiliate WPTV’s NewsChannel 5 “What’s It Worth Wednesdays”.
